In June of 2004 the work for us began in the Baja. Rockvale along with Southside Church of Christ from Lexington, KY. Our trip carried us to the Maneadero and El Zorrillo areas.

While on this trip a small group of our team traveled south to the Camalu area to research the possibility of planting a church in this area. This trip eventually led to land being purchased later that same year.

In June of 2005, both Rockvale and Southside began making their own trips. We jointly constructed the minister’s house on the grounds and began the work of the church via evangelism, benevolence, a health clinic, home improvements, and more.

In April of 2006, a minister Juan Jose Medina and his wife Flor moved into the house and officially established the Camalu church as a functioning church.

In May of 2006, construction began on the Camalu church building. Construction on the building continued thru to  2008. In 2009 a tent building, that had been a makeshift classroom for the children, was replaced with a permanent structure.

It has been a quick and amazing 6 years since this work began and the Lord has truly been blessing us and the people of Mexico through this effort. So far over 40 have been baptized, and as many as 80 to 90 adults, teens, and children meet each week for worship serves and class.

The work has also impacted hundreds of Americans already. People from all over KY, OH, and TN have been involved directly in this work.

Rockvale’s work in the Baja has been partnered with the Westwood Church of Christ from the beginning. In 2004 a few of their church members joined along and ever since then a major part of our mission teams have come from this congregation. This year we have a couple of new churches partnering with us. The Bellwood Church of Christ in Murfreesboro TN and the Central Chruch of Christ from Sparta TN.
